A silent partner is any relative or close family friend who takes the abuser's side against the victim rather than confronting the abuser or attempting to rescue the victim from the abuser.  (Psychology Today).

1 in 10 children are abused before they reach their 18th birthday, 93% of the time it is someone the child knows personally. These alarming statistics reveal that many adults may know when child abuse is taking place but are fearful or ill-equipped to stop it.

As a parent or caretaker of children, we need to be proactive in our efforts to prevent this abuse from occurring, and responding with compassion and support to the child, rather than out of fear from the perpetrator.

We will break down some warning signs that may mean abuse, and important reminders when reporting this crime. If you are in need of advocacy services or want to make a report, please resource the RAINN Sexual Assault hotline: 1-800-656-4673
